What's it all about?

A ten year old girl called Louisa May and her mother, Georgette, who have been without a home for as long as she can remember. Their only way of coping with their often-dismal life is through the construction of a much nicer fantasy world.

Where did the idea come from?

I read a newspaper article about homeless people in Britain. It said finding decent housing for homeless people, especially families, was a real problem. One solution was to send them to the seaside in winter as B&Bs were usually empty then. An idea came which had both the 'light and dark' needed in a story - the darkness of poverty and the lightness of a seaside setting.
